recommends I cannot recommend My Maths Guy highly enough. Gary has such a nice manner and both my children really liked the way he delivered and explained the subject. I was regularly updated with honest assessments of how the children were doing and what they needed to work on. A word of caution, whilst Gary gives the students the tools and encouragement to do well, this in itself does not guarantee success. It is ultimately up to the students to put the hard work and committment in to achieve the results they want.recommends We cannot recommend Gary highly enough. After being disappointed with her Nat 5 result, and having started her Higher maths course, my daughter started two weekly sessions with Gary in the October. She also participated in all the group courses he had to offer over the year. His tuition, help, advice and resources were all excellent and we received a monthly review of her progress. His positivity was invaluable in improving her mindset to the subject as she struggled in every test at school, and after being predicted to fail all year in every school report we received, she actually achieved an A. Even after the first tutorial she felt more confident. She passed National 5 Maths and got the grades needed for her future aspirations. He was demotivated by poor test results and doubted his ability. He was ready to just give up. Gary, from the outset, was excellent in encouraging him to believe in his ability and this in turn increased his confidence hugely. He enjoyed his tutor sessions and the difference in his motivation to do well in his higher exam was evident as each week passed. He was confident in sitting his exam and his results came out as a respectable B only 2 points from an A. Without Gary's support I don't think he would have carried on and certainly would not have passed for which I am very thankful. He provided excellent regular feedback which I found encouraging and helped me to discuss progress with my son. The real magical thing about Gary is the way he connects with his pupils and really puts them at ease and supports them to find the confidence and desire to want to work hard to understand Maths ! He tutored both my children and they both rave about how amazing he is. He has a real way of adapting his style based around the child’s needs and finding the best way for them to understand. As we live quite far away, he offered her a 3 hour long session each month. She found this really useful and said it flew by. He seemed to be able to explain things in a way that she could understand and his communication/feedback, and offers of support between sessions were excellent.
