Group Revision Sessions
Group revision sessions are a great way to prepare for assessments by building skills and confidence quickly. For the 2025/26 school year I’m offering three Maths revision courses for National 5 & Higher Maths – a prelim revision day in January, a three day revision course in the April holidays and a final exam revision day in May. These are conducted in a relaxed and supportive manner with limited numbers so that everyone receives direct instructor input. All content is aligned with the standard curriculums and based on intimate knowledge of previous years assessments.
Maths Prelim Revision Day
The prelims can give a huge boost in confidence towards the final exam, as well as being a key opportunity to consolidate knowledge and build skills. Schools generally impose a 30% prelim score as a benchmark for progressing to the final exam. Although we can’t review everything in 5 hours, we aim to hit the topics that are likely to appear on the exam. The focus of the day will be practicing key techniques rather than theory. Attendees will be issued additional practice questions to continue their preparations following the session.
National 5 Maths: January 4th or 10th (either date), 10:30 – 13:00 & 14:30 – 17:00
Higher Maths: January 4th or 10th (either date), 10:30 – 13:00 & 14:30 – 17:00
Venue: The Inkwell, Elgin Youth Cafe, Francis Place, Elgin.
Cost: £100 with a £25 deposit to book and the remainder requested prior to the revision day.
Practical Stuff: Students should bring a pen or pencil, paper or jotter, and a calculator and are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks. Please note the onsite cafe is not open on weekends and the venue will be closed over the lunch break. I’ve given a 90 minute lunch break to allow time to go out.
Maths Final Exam Revision Course (3 Days)
The focus of the final exam revision course is for students to work lots of practice questions to help build key skills, consolidate knowledge and increase confidence. The total classroom time is 15 hours over 3 days and we’ll cover all of the key techniques that are likely to appear on the final exams. Mostly students will work through carefully selected questions with guidance and support from the instructor but some group teaching will also take place. Each student will receive individual attention to pick up any issues in their work and improve their chances for the final exams. Throughout the three days, tips, tricks and exam strategy will be shared with students. Additional questions will be provided each day to allow students to do extra work if they wish – or these can be used for final exam prep. Solutions for these additional questions will be posted online.
