Learn how to solve equations which contain logarithms
Equations which contain logarithms may seem intimidating at first. But, with some experience, are actually quite straight-forward. The key to solving an equation with logarithms is to get rid of the logarithm. That can be tricky as there are different methods. So, like all equations, the key is to practice a range of different types and adapt the technique to suit the problem. You should also be familiar with the ‘laws (rules) of logarithms’ as they’re used in almost all of these equations. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar as we review them. Key Points
Equations with logarithms are solved by removing the logarithm
The properties, or rules, of logarithms are a key skill here
Logarithms can be removed by ‘dropping’ (i.e. cancelling) the logarithm in some cases
Logarithms can be removed by rewriting as an exponential in some cases
